And yes, I’m talking about myself.
- I am doing the most, meaning everything I can to equip you for career success.
- I am doing the most, meaning helping you push through (perceived) obstacles so you can get hired.
It’s impossible to do your best and be your best when you’re weighed down or overcommitted. The results: physical clutter, mental fog, fatigue, stress, poor choices and subpar performance. This week, ask yourself: How can I achieve quality results by doing this smarter, faster, better with the help of someone else? How can I create mutual wins by reducing my workload which results in enhanced performance for all parties involved?
My Confession: Leafy green vegetables are nutritious but I don’t consume them on a regular basis. I don’t cook NEARLY enough but Whole Foods does…. By placing an order to have them cook my collards, I’ve achieved my goal- smarter, faster, better with the help of someone else. #Delegate #Outsource #Best$8.99ISpentThisWeek #MutualWins
This Week: Delegate/Outsource
- Decide what needs to be delegated. You weren’t created to do everything and shouldn’t try to. If your existing commitments stop you from operating in your strengths, make a list of 1-3 things you will transition effective immediately.
- Match the task with the person who will assume this new responsibility. I know Whole Foods collards will taste better than mine, so I’m comfortable with delegating this task to them. What I wouldn’t do is order my collards from McDonalds if they sold them as they’re not the best match for the task. McCollards? I’ll pass 😊 Assess the skills, knowledge and attitude of those assuming the new responsibility as well as their capacity to produce quality results.
- Communicate clearly. Define the expected outcome, provide adequate support and discuss the impacts of success. Once you’ve provided clear instructions in conjunction with expectations, you can get back to operating in your genius and doing what you’re great at.
- Consider expense costs. Delegating and outsourcing doesn’t mean spending MORE money- you could actually save money long-term. I’ve had hair appointments for as long as I can remember, many of them at 5am. I now wear wigs (say hello to my new friend Susan in the image above). I schedule an appointment to have my “sister friends” styled- it’s a one and done resulting in both time as well as money saved.
In closing, it’s impossible to achieve your goals when overwhelm and over commitment is your norm. Make delegation a priority this week so you can pursue success while simultaneously leveraging your workload.
Have a safe, blessed and happy 4th!!
